Past Memories :: Traditional Boats

Our first initiative in the contribution towards keeping past memories alive was the construction of a type of trainer boat in 2006, similar to those our fishermen used years ago.

This boat will serve to allow fishermen who are now retired to relive past memories of their infancy, given that many of them would have worked on these types of boats.

But with our project, we don't want this to be just a memory, but want these fishermen to have the opportunity to teach younger children all that they learnt when working on these boats. This way their teachings will endure through time and form an important part of our sociocultural heritage.

During 2009 we will hire a traditional sailing instructor who will be supervised by experienced fishermen to form part of the crew that will participate in the II sailing challenge.
