All fishing communities have an extensive sociocultural heritage that they must preserve through time, that is why this heritage must be passed on from parents to their children, so it endures over the generations.
Our sociocultural heritage is highlighted by fishing customs that have been held throughout time. The most important one being the the performance of the Naufragio (Shipwreck) on the 17th August, that coincides with the celebrations of Virgen del Carmen.
This celebration is very established in our port as it is the most beautiful way of paying homage to our patron, Virgen del Carmen.
Generations of fishing families have participated in the Naufragio celebrations, and are still represented today through their children. These took example from their parents to carry on a tradition that is about to celebrate its 50th year.
